Introduction
Fujian Health College (FHC) is a public full-time general higher education college approved by Fujian Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is a demonstrative modern higher vocational college in Fujian Province, a high-level vocational college, and a designated construction unit for professional programs (Category A) in Fujian Province. The college is also the Vice Chairman unit of the Public Health Management Professional Committee of the National Committee for Vocational Education and Teaching Guidance in Health, the Chairman unit of the Preventive Medicine Professional Sub-Committee, and the Secretary-General unit of the Vocational Education Guidance Committee for the Pharmaceutical and Health Industry in Fujian Province. Established in 2005 through the merger of Fujian Health School and Fuzhou Health School, the college can trace its educational history back to 1888, marking the origin of modern nursing education in China. It was among the first vocational colleges in the country to offer a Preventive Medicine program and serves as the earliest talent cultivation base for pharmacy and medical laboratory professionals in Fujian Province.It actively participates in the national "Belt and Road" initiative and has established cooperative relationships with over 10 universities abroad in countries such as the United States, Japan, and Thailand. It hosts the first Sino-foreign nursing education cooperation program among vocational colleges in Fujian Province.
The college comprises nine academic institutions, including the School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, School of Medical Technology and Engineering, School of Public Health and Health Management, School of Marxism, and School of Continuing Education. It offers 29 majors, forming five high-level professional clusters in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, technology, and management. Currently, there are four national 1+X certificate pilot programs, two projects supported by the Ministry of Education to enhance the professional service capabilities for industry development, one provincial-level project for cultivating demonstration majors in industry-education integration, and six provincial-level demonstration majors. It has established joint programs with seven secondary vocational schools in eight majors. It also collaborates with Fujian Medical University in three majors—Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Medical Imaging Technology—for the talent development program that integrates secondary vocational education, higher vocational education, and applied undergraduate education.
The college currently has 509 full-time teachers, including 188 with senior professional titles and 25 holding doctoral degrees. It boasts 3 provincial-level teaching teams, 3 provincial-level teaching masters, 1 teaching team for ideological and political education recognized by the Ministry of Education, and 5 teaching masters. Furthermore, it has 1 participant in the Ministry of Education's New Era Vocational School Teacher Training Program, 4 Professional Leaders of vocational education in Fujian Province, 2 outstanding teachers awarded the "Qinghai Cup - Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award," 1 outstanding teacher recognized by the Chinese Vocational Education Society, and 2 individuals included in Fujian Province's Outstanding Young Research Talent Cultivation Program for Higher Education.It has been selected as one of the typical cases of individual professional development for "Double-qualified" teachers in national vocational colleges (one of only three in the province), offering 1 national online quality course in vocational education and 8 provincial-level online quality courses. The college aims to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents, adhering to the educational philosophy of "comprehensive cultivation through five aspects". It currently has 12,000 full-time higher vocational students, with a stable graduate employment rate of over 96%. The college has been recognized as an advanced unit in employment and entrepreneurship for graduates among higher education colleges in the province, as well as an advanced unit in student financial aid publicity in Fujian Province.It has cultivated a number of influential outstanding students at the national and provincial levels, including recipients of the "Chinese College Students' Self-improvement Star" award, the national excellent team in the "Activity on Three Rural Areas " organized by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and outstanding Communist Youth League members in the province.
The college continuously optimizes its talent development model through the integration of medical and educational resources, industry-education collaboration, and school-enterprise partnerships. It has established the Fujian Health Service Vocational Education Group and collaborates with hospitals and enterprises to create a community with shared destiny among schools, institutions, and enterprises. It has 173 external training bases, including four affiliated hospitals (Fujian Provincial Governmental Hospital,907 Hospital of PLA Joint Logistic Support Force, Jianou City Hospital, and Wuyishan City Hospital); 39 teaching hospitals ( Fujian Provincial Hospital, Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital, the First Hospital of Nanping City, Ningde City Hospital, the First Hospital of Putian City, the Second Hospital of Longyan City,the First Hospital of Longhai City, and the General Hospital of Shaxian County ); and 17 school-enterprise cooperative units (including Xiamen Children's Hospital, Fujian Maternity and Children Health Hospital, Fuzhou TCM Hospital, and Fuzhou South East Eye Hospital).Additionally, the college has four provincial-level industrial college pilot projects, two provincial-level demonstration majors in industry-education integration, four provincial-level characteristic professional clusters for service industries, two high-level professional training bases for industry-education integration, one clinical skills training center, four teacher-enterprise (hospital) practice mobility stations, two innovation and entrepreneurship practice education bases, and has been selected as a typical case of industry-education collaboration and school-enterprise cooperation by the China Education Development Strategy Institute.
The college is dedicated to serving the innovation-driven strategy with a focus on integrating science and education, while always keeping in mind the mission of vocational education to promote technological innovation and serve society. It has established three research centers and one research laboratory, utilizing research platforms to integrate research and innovation achievements into educational practices. In recent years, the school has undertaken various projects including the National Natural Science Foundation project, key projects of the National Education Science Planning of the Ministry of Education, research projects for university teachers on ideological and political theory courses from the Ministry of Education, and provincial science and technology planning projects.It has developed two local standards in Fujian Province, obtained 21 authorized invention patents, 13 utility model patents, 29 software copyrights, and 2 design patents. It has also been honored with two third prizes in the Fujian Medical Science and Technology Awards.
The college serves as the training base for primary health technicians, the training center for rural doctors, township health technicians, and medical nursing staff. It is also recognized as the national development base for nursing practice exam questions, the national institution for enhancing nutrition counseling capabilities, the demonstration base for community education in Fujian Province, and the face-to-face continuing education institution for licensed pharmacists accredited by the Fujian Pharmacists Association. The establishment of the Fujian Province primary health technicians training group allows for the annual training of 30,000 individuals.It has been approved for 15 pilot projects under the "1+X" vocational skills certification system and the recognition of vocational skill levels in 10 categories. It has been honored as a key training institution for the "Revealing the list and taking charge" of key industrial projects by the Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. Collaborating with institutions such as China Pharmaceutical University, Fujian Medical University, and Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the college offers continuing education for higher education degrees and has been recognized as a national outstanding adult continuing education institution.
The college adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implements the fundamental task of cultivating virtue through education and has been honored with numerous awards.
